The Other Side Of The Coin

So I’ve added a new category to the site “Scrapbook” this week.  This will be a section where I post stuff that I find personally motivating or interesting.  It will also be a place where I post stuff that I wouldn’t really post on my main site “JmanX.com“.

On that site, I aim to always keep the content clean and family safe.  Which also means that some stuff that might be have more adult language or content is not really included in that vision.  But that doesn’t mean there isn’t also some interesting stuff I would like to share.  This doesn’t mean I’m going to be posting porn and gore on here, not at all.  In fact, hopefully the content I get to share here will be more thought provoking, something that might actually matter or inspire, or maybe just cause a good laugh.  So I’ll try and continue to add stuff to this new section when I come across it, give it a look.

A Little History

Many people wonder where the name “JmanX” comes from.  So back in the day, I was a huge fan of the Mega Man games, especially Mega Man X, which was probably one of my favorite all time games.  So when I created my online handle “JmanX”, it was a play on the name of that game, using my name (Julian) as the first letter.  It’s also why I used to use the character “Zero” from that game in a lot of the website logos and imagery back then.  However the name “JmanX” actually has a little more too it.  My favorite number is also “10”, and JmanX is actually 3 different 10’s.  “J” is the 10th letter of the alphabet, “X” is the Roman numeral for 10, and the letters MAN add up to 10 (M=13th letter, A=1st letter, N=14th letter, so 1+3+1+1+4=10).  Also, “Manx” is the name of resident of the Isle of Man, a British island (I’m also partially of British heritage).  So yeah, that’s some of the reason for the name, and now you know how a stupid fanboy obsession of a video game turns into a complete and ridiculous online persona.

“You’re Still Alive, My Old Friend”

“”Still! Old! Friend!”

Yes, it’s been a little while.  I had begun to think I might not ever get a chance to return and revitalize these old sites.  It has been so long.  But like Kirk, it’s hard to keep a good man down.  So here we are again, back at it.

I think the biggest thing that kept me away and from coming back was the willingness to give up the design of the old site.  It was a very cool design done by an old web designer friend.  But unfortunately the internet and technology kept advancing and it was no longer able to fit all the new screens.  It also required a lot more effort to make a page and keep things updated.  So I did what I did with all my other sites, I put them behind glass to be preserved as they were and lost the key.

But like the Genesis Project, what was a desolate wasteland is being reborn.  I’ll be slowly rebuilding this site, getting all the old stuff moved over.  And then I’ll be able to start adding all the new stuff.  I’ve taken lots of photos over the years since I last updated.  But mostly, I want to be able to bitch and rant about stuff again.  I find that I’m pretty opinionated on quite a few subjects, and sometimes Twitter’s 140 character limit can’t encapsulate my passion about a subject.

Anyways, if you care, I hope you enjoy it all.  But mostly this is a site for myself, a public journal of sorts.  Either way, welcome back old friends.
